Trip to Utah

In August, the kids and I got to go visit my parents in Provo. Sergio had a business trip to the Philippines so we were able to stay even longer. It was a long time to go without daddy, but there was no lack of entertainment while we were there. It was fun and play everyday.

Abuelita's Backyard

For starters Abuelita's backyard was fully equipped for fun! Clark would often bang on the back door of the house so that someone would let him outside.

Clark hanging out with Aunt Jessi in the hammock

Clark seems to prefer drinking water out of pools and bathtubs to the water I offer in cups. Go figure.

Clark normally ran straight for the pool when he was outside, except for the day he discovered he had ready access to Abuelita's blackberries. Trouble was he didn't seem to care whether they were ripe or not.

While we were there Ana Maria arranged for us to be able to go with her to an event for kids on the move at a baseball game where they also had games for the kids!

Jessi's Half-Marathon

Sergito and Emma congratulating Aunt Jessi after her half marathon!

Sometimes all it takes is music in a parking lot . . .

Bowling at BYU

Sergito and Jessiquita help each other out

Uncle Kevin teaching Emma proper technique

Emma felt the need to end every bowl with a jump of joy and a hug from someone: usually Natalia, uncle Kevin, or Abuelito

Monica and Sergito enjoying some prime uncle Ryan time. He was busy working and trying to study for the GMAT, but he really took a lot of time for his nieces and nephews. Thanks for being such a great uncle Ryan!

Pooltime

It's not a real summer vacation without plenty of trips to the pool!

Clark preferred using the flotation device as a fashion statement

Talk about a fun community pool: big slides, little slides, wading pools, deep pools, AND a lazy river! Monica, Jessiquita, Sergito, Natalia and Emma all enjoyed the big water slides, but since they needed adults to go down with them, Kevin, Jessi and I spent probably an hour running up and down the stairs to get them all down the slide. Fun times!

Feliz Cumpleanos Natalia

Natalia's Birthday Party. She turned 3!

Of course our vacation was full of wonderful food! And Sergito and Emma had a blast playing with their cousins and getting to know them better. Too bad we live so far away from each other.

2 Dollar Tuesdays at Thanksgiving Point!

Sergito enjoying his pony ride. He later got a bigger horse and felt very grown up about being able to ride it.

Emma enjoying Abuelito's help on her horse. The kids fought over who was allowed to ride in Abuelita and Abuelito's car. Riding with me was just nowhere near as fun.

Aunt Ana Maria with Clark. She is an early developmental specialist and thanks to her Clark started saying a couple of words after we got back. One of his most consistent words now is "abre" which I attribute 100% to Ana Maria and the day she spent a ton of time just playing with Clark opening and closing the coveted box of pencils. Now I just need her to move to Cincinnati so he can learn to say more. She really is amazing at what she does! Thank you for helping out my little one!

The petting zoo!

Sergito and Emma enjoying Abuelita's company on the wagon ride.

Outside the Science museum

I think Sergito spent at least half an hour at this spinning table learning how to make the rings stay up.

Here is Sergito appearing happy despite the fact that 2 minutes before he had been having a meltdown about the fact that other kids wanted to take apart the dinosaur he had built! Sharing can be so hard.

Emma digging for dinosaur bones

Oh no, they put Sergito in jail! He seems a little too happy about it.

Random Bits of Fun

A trip to the Monte L. Bean museum: an absolute must even if just for nostalgia. I remember going there every time we went to visit Grandma and Grandpa when I was a little girl. And they still have the same lion with a scar on its nose.

Clark enjoying the inflatable play place we went to. Most the pictures I took were too out of focus, but Sergito, Monica, Jessica, Emma, and Natalia didn't stop running from one slide to the next. They were pretty steep. I was impressed Emma slid down them, without any hint of fear.

Family Home Evening at the Temple Abuelito talked to us about the symbolism and the importance of eternal families!

Garcia Clan
We also got to see a bit of the Garcia clan: Aunt Michelle, Uncle Ale, Camila, and Uncle Jared.

We got to meet Camila while we were there. Emma was very excited to have a baby girl cousin to dote over. The look of consternation on Camila's face was due to Clark wanting to play in the pool with her earlier. . . He can be kind of scary especially when he falls on top of you and you happen to be half his size! Poor Cami.

Uncle Ale with the girls. Sergito and Emma had a lot of fun running around the backyard with uncle Ale.

Our best attempt at getting a picture of all the Garcia Lyons' grandchildren

Uncle Jared came to teach Sergito some soccer tricks in between work and practice! Sergito is in awe of his awesome skills! When he plays soccer now he always tells me how he has to kick the ball a certain way like uncle Jared taught him.
