Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer Part II

TEMPLE SQUARE
Sergio had to work in Salt Lake one of the days so we played at temple square while he went to his meetings.
Posing With Abuelita
In all honesty we didn't see too much of temple square, because the kids were so anxious to get to the Book of Mormon Exhibit. So after hearing the pin drop in the tabernacle and taking a quick peak at the Christus and the prophet exhibit in the North Visitor's Center, we headed over there.

Clark the architect, Sergito & Beckham the speed demons, and Beckham &Clark fishing on Nephi's Boat
Emmita learning "ballet folklorico" . . She didn't let loose until she discovered the MIRROR!

Headed to City Creek for lunch. The kids had fun playing on the dinosaurs, and Sergito was quite excited to lose another tooth! He was also proud of himself on this trip to have taught Melia how to give a high five. Whether or not it war really his doing. Who knows? But he takes full credit for her accomplishments!
On our way back to Provo we got to stop at Meli's dad's, Sir Walter's candy compnay and get a private tour. It was DELICIOUS! If you want high quality candy, this is the place to get it!
Ready to go . . This was the only picture we could get of Baby David. He clearly knows he's the heir because he ran around like he owned the place and of course his cousins were happy to chase after him.

Making and of course eating chocolate!! Sergito and Emma posing with Aunt Meli
When I asked the kids a couple of days later what they're favorite part of the trip was . . . Emma replied without hesitation:
THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY!!!
Me: Really even more than 7 Peaks?
Emma: Yeah even more than 7 Peaks!
Sergito: Not for me . . . I think it's number three on my list. Apparently 7 Peaks and seeing Thomas rated higher.

FRIENDS FOREVER
Naturally Sergito cannot have a trip to Utah without seeing his buddy Thomas. So, we met up with them and headed to an inflatable toy area where they ran off some energy and had some fun! And of course that gave Heather and I an excellent chance to catch up. . . If only we could get them back to Ohio, but we're happy to see them out West when we get the chance.
Sergito climbing up, posing with Thomas (yes that's Clark, too busy pretending to play video games to turn around).

 RAFTING DOWN THE PROVO RIVER
Abuelita and Abuelito are always great at spoiling us and this time it included an inflatable kayaking trip down the Provo River.
Group Shot: Abuelito, Melia, Jared, Helaman, Me, Sergito, Clark, Emma, and Beckham

1-Daddy and his kiddos, 2- Melia so ready to go she slept through the whole trip 3-Daddy and Helaman showing of their big guns, 4- Cool Dudes: Sergito enjoying his uncles Jared and Helaman

CARNE ASADA

Revenge is best served with a warm tortilla: Sergio's revenge for David showing us all the pastor he ate in Merida by showing off the yummy meal we had with HIS in laws! And it WAS yummy!

RANDOM FUN
Playing Catch with Daddy at the park
Batso Game
A game of true incentives. One day when all the fun had zapped my energy level to the max, Sergito took the kids in the back yard to quiz them on math and spelling where daddy sprayed himself with the hose every time they got the answer right right, but if they got it wrong, they got sprayed.

Our failed attempt at fresh fruit
We stopped at one of those fresh fruit stands, and for whatever reason decided to buy overpriced overly ripe cherries. At least, the kids got a fun game out of it with dad: spitting cherry pits from cement onto the grass . . . if it didn’t land on grass, they had to throw it in the garbage. Beckham tried to play too, but the cherries only made it as far as his chin.

LYONS PICNIC
We didn't quite catch everyone the first time around so we had another get together at the park with the Lyons. We got to see Pamla and her family and also Chad and Steph and their sweet new addition Maria Luisa. Unfortunately I was not smart enough to get hardly any pictures.

Helaman with Pam's youngest and Emma and Kami swinging
Sergito teaching Baby David that kicking is a good thing. Reminds us a bit of a certain uncle who likes to teach Sergito how much fun hitting could be:)

 THE PRICE OF VACATIONS
Too much fun and not enough naps . . .
 GREAT GRANDMA AND GRANDPA ROUNDY
Great Grandma after a long week and little sleep with a quick visit from the great grandkids

The real reason we went to Utah was to see Great grandma and grandpa Garcia. Unfortunately Grandpa was not well enough for the kids to see him, and he spent most of our time there in the hospital, but I was able to spend some time with him. I am grateful to him for many reasons, for opening his home to me when I was homesick in college, for showing me the beauty in giving people the benefit of the doubt and loving them for their good qualities, often overlooking their faults. Grandpa always ready with a joke. We knew he wasn’t doing well when he lost his sense of humor. But since we got back to Cincinnati, I heard he's gotten it back.
