MEXICO IN JULY

We spent most of the month of July in Mexico. Sergio had a last minute business trip to Mexico, so he worked and we played, but at least we got to see him on weekends and evenings when he wasn't traveling. We took a ton of pictures and we probably could have taken more, so bear with me; this is a post full of pictures and not so many words.

WELCOME HOME UNCLE JARED
We got there just in time to welcome home Uncle Jared from his mission.
Outside the airport

GUADALAJARA
Sergio had a meeting in Guadalajara so we took advantage of the opportunity and went with him. The kids and I explored the city in the morning and once Sergio was done with his meeting we all went out together.

FRIENDS
Herbert and Samantha Pineda came over with their girls. It was great to catch up and the kids had fun getting to know each other. Too bad we don't get to see them more often.

Sergito and Samantita just getting started.

We went to Queretaro's new Parque Bicentennario with Great Aunt Rorris, Monica (mommy's cousin), and Monica Peredo (mommy's friend) and her two newly adopted twin girls Dani and Susi. So cute; so polite; so obedient.

Car seats may be safer, but you sure can fit a lot more kids in the back seat without them.

Monica Peredo and her girls.

Cousin Monica and Sergito

Sergito, Dani, and Susi had the ride to themselves after some of the kids cried and got off half way through.

MEXICAN PERKS
Gorditas! We saw uncle "Glove" (Sergito's nickname for Sergio's cousin Glen) for a couple days. Sergito and Emma loved him. All these relatives willing to play Batman and Superman and willing to walk Emma wherever she wanted to go . . . If only life could always be a vacation.

Here we are having our bull fight/flamenco dance cultural experience.

I couldn't leave Mexico without having my esquite. mmmh! It brings back memories every time.

FAMILY FUN
Favorite Walking companion - Gramps was Emma's clear favorite. He took her exactly where she wanted to go when she wanted to go. Doesn't get much better than that.

Cool dudes. If uncle David does it, it must be the way to go.

Sergito and Emma wore grandpa out in about 5 minutes, and they had great fun doing it! Why take turns when we can both jump on him at the same time?
Just a little further Grandpa. . .

Nothing beats a Disney Classic - Sergito and Emma had long since lost interest, but as you can see Daddy and Gramps were entranced with Jungle Book.

Watering Gramps - this is what I call good old Garcia Lyons fun!

Playing soccer with the big boys

Aunt Michelle
Personalized backyard entertainment. It was actually starting to get chilly that evening, but that didn't stop Sergito and Emma from enjoying the pool.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BENJI!
We went up to San Miguel for Benji's birthday party (Sergio's cousin).

Mordida! For those of you who don't know it is customary in Mexico to make the birthday boy or girl take a bite out of the cake and then shove their face in it. It's funny every time!
Emma always finding someone to walk her around (Samantha's willingness made her an instant favorite).

Sergito was having too much fun to stop for mundane details like being drenched in homemade mamey ice cream.

Catching orphan ducklings with aunt Samantha (they're in the box)

Paty and Glendon

LA CASA DE LOS TIOS
The day before we left we ate at great uncle Agustin and aunt Rorris' house. While we were there he got out his instruments to teach the kids a thing or two about music.
Learning to play the violin.

Emmita dancing to the beat.

ON THE WAY HOME
We were sad to leave everyone behind in Mexico, but it was good to get back home and unspoil our kids, well at least half way unspoiled.

Emma was so eager to walk that we decided to put her to work at the airport on the way home.

Despite how long this post is already, it would not be complete without this video of Sergito husking corn with Gramps.
